Difficult To Let Go
If only we could all let go as easily as letting go of a flying kite. And luckily it isn’t that easy. Why? It’s difficult for any of us to simply let go because we are not zombies. We are actually highly emotional beings. The fact that letting go is such an uphill task for most of us, if not all, shows that we are just being who we are; we are just reacting in the way we should have; we are after all just human. Thus, we should be grateful that we find it hard to let go though we should know when to let go eventually. Letting go is a process and the duration varies with each individual. Some take longer than others, while there are some who never seen to be able to snap out of it. I liken the process of letting go to the removal of the strip of adhesive plaster from our healed wound. Some of us will get rid of it with one quick rend while some choose to prolong their agony by peeling it off with much hesitation. I belong to the former as I feel that the longer we take to let go, the less time we have to add value and meaning to our brief stint on earth. Why squander away precious time and energy on events that are impossible to revert or undo? Is it worth it?
Sometimes things happen to us that may seem horrible, painful and unfair at first, but in reflection we find that without overcoming those obstacles we would have never realised our potential, strength, willpower or heart. They actually test the limits of our minds and souls and without these small tests, whatever they may be, life would be like a smoothly paved straight flat road to nowhere. It would be safe and comfortable but dull and utterly pointless. The people we meet who affect our lives and the successes and downfalls that we experience, help to create who we are and who we become. Even the bad experiences bring their lessons. In fact, they are sometimes the most important ones.
Thus, if someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, forgive them, for they have helped you to learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart. If someone loves you, give love back to them in whatever way you can, not only because they love you, but because in a way, they are teaching you to love and how to open your heart and eyes to things. Let yourself fall in love, break free and set your sights high. Hold your head up because you have every right to. Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don’t believe in yourself, it will be hard for others to believe in you.
Make every day count. Appreciate every moment. Learn a lesson about life each day that you live. You can make anything you wish of your life and live it with absolutely no regrets. Hence, the sooner you let go the sooner you live a fuller life.
